HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) cases have recently been reported in India. The first cases were detected in Bengaluru and Gujarat, involving infants. HMPV causes cold-like symptoms but can lead to severe complications in young children and the elderly. It was first identified in 2001. While there’s no need for panic, health officials advise staying cautious and following flu or COVID-19 vaccination guidelines.
